How to use this tool

1. Enter your own figures below, or choose Load example to try the worked example. Check the units beside each field.

2. Select Calculate to see the result and its breakdown. If you change an input, calculate again before copying or printing.

3. Use Copy summary or Print / save PDF to keep your assumptions and results together. Reset clears the form.

How the calculation works

Area = length × width. Required coverage = area × (1 + allowance percentage). Packs = required coverage ÷ coverage per pack, rounded up using the unrounded calculation. Material cost multiplies whole packs by the entered pack price. Spare coverage compares purchased material with the measured floor area, so it includes the allowance.

Worked example

A 5 m × 4 m floor is 20 m². With 10% extra, required coverage is 22 m². Packs covering 2.2 m² each require 10 whole packs. At $60 per pack, material cost is $600 and coverage above the measured area is 2 m².

Questions and assumptions

What this estimate includes

Choose an allowance for your layout and installer advice. The 10% default is editable and not a promise that it suits diagonal patterns, herringbone or an irregular room. Pack area is taken from your product label. This estimates material quantity, not a cutting layout, tile count or installation quote.

Can I save or share my result?

Copy summary includes the current inputs and results. Print / save PDF creates a local report with the calculation scope and source links. Your figures are not added to the page URL or stored by this tool. Refreshing clears the form.
