How to use this tool

1. Enter your own figures below, or choose Load example to try the worked example. Check the units beside each field.

2. Select Calculate to see the result and its breakdown. If you change an input, calculate again before copying or printing.

3. Use Copy summary or Print / save PDF to keep your assumptions and results together. Reset clears the form.

How the calculation works

Volumetric weight in kilograms = packed length × width × height in centimetres ÷ divisor. Compare this with actual weight, then round the higher value up to your selected kilogram increment. Multiply the rounded per-parcel weight by the number of identical parcels. Dimensions are used as entered; apply any carrier-required dimension rounding first.

Worked example

A 50 × 40 × 30 cm parcel with divisor 5,000 has volumetric weight of 12 kg. If its actual weight is 8 kg, the 12 kg figure is higher. Rounded to 0.5 kg increments it remains 12 kg; three identical parcels total 36 kg chargeable weight.

Questions and assumptions

What this estimate includes

Carriers and services use different divisors, minimums and rounding rules. This model rounds each identical parcel separately. It does not combine different parcels, apply carrier size limits, account for pallets or calculate charges. The 5,000 divisor and 0.5 kg increment are editable assumptions, not a universal tariff.

Can I save or share my result?

Copy summary includes the current inputs and results. Print / save PDF creates a local report with the calculation scope and source links. Your figures are not added to the page URL or stored by this tool. Refreshing clears the form.
