How to use this tool
1. Enter a distinct name for each participant, one per line. You can use the example list to try the tool.
2. Choose Balanced teams and enter the team count, or select Turn order for one shuffled list.
3. Generate the result, then copy or print the groups. Generate again for a fresh random assignment.
How the random choice works
A Fisher–Yates shuffle creates a random participant order. Turn-order mode displays that order directly. Team mode assigns shuffled participants to teams in rotation, so each person appears once and group sizes differ by at most one.
Worked example
Seven participants split into three teams produce group sizes of 3, 2 and 2. Turn-order mode instead returns all seven in one randomly ordered list, with the first entry going first.
Questions and assumptions
Scope and assumptions
Balanced refers to headcount only. Skill, friendships, roles and accessibility needs are not inferred. No person is assigned twice, and more teams than participants are rejected.
Can a result be predicted or proved?
The browser supplies cryptographic random values, with no fallback to Math.random. If that source is unavailable, the tool reports an error. Repeated outcomes can happen naturally. A locally editable page and its printout are not independent proof of a draw; no signed server record is created.
